19th AAI Awards 200419 Apr 2004 - 29 Apr 2004 The annual Exhibition of "AAI AWARDS for Excellence in Architectural Design" will be open to the public from Monday 19th to Thursday 29th April 2004 inclusive. Admission is free. Guinness Storehouse. Opening hours 9.30pm to 5.00pm, 7 days a week. The AAI Awards 2004 are documented in book form in the 19th volume of best-selling "NEW IRISH ARCHITECTURE 19" from Gandon Editions, a 192-page full-colour book which will be on sale at 20 euros at the exhibition venue and through bookshops nationwide from 19th April. The official presentation of the Downes Bronze Medal and the AAI Awards will take place on the evening of Thursday 29th April at 6.30pm. The 19th AAI Awards Exhibition will feature the Medal-winning Project, Award-winners and Special Mentions, and it will also include all other submitted projects. Full Results The assessors for the AAI Awards 2004 were as follows: Aaron Betsky, Director the Netherlands Architectural Institute, architectural critic; Paul Robbrecht, Robbrecht + Daem Architects, Belgium, foreign architect; Eddie Conroy, Senior Architect, South Dublin County Council, Irish Architect; Antoinette O'Neill, Architecture Specialist to the Arts Council, Irish assessor; Marion Finnucane, Broadcaster, distinguished non-architect. The exhibition will subsequently travel to venues around the country, including: Vision Centre, Cork; The Courthouse, Cavan; Civic Theatre, Tallaght; National University of Ireland, Galway; Queens University Visitor Centre, Belfast; The Context Gallery, Derry. The AAI Awards are grant-aided by The Arts Council and sponsored by Tegral Building Products Ltd. The AAI Awards exhibition launch is supported by Guinness Storehouse. The AAI would like to thank the following companies and organisations without whom it would be impossible to implement our annual programme. THE AAI INSURANCE POLICY COVERS ONLY PAID-UP MEMBERS OF THE AAI, FOR INSTANCE CHILDREN ARE NOT COVERED. ENTRANCE TO SITE COULD BE REFUSED TO NON-AAI MEMBERS. IT IS ALSO REQUESTED THAT AAI-MEMBERS VISTING SITES PROVIDE THEIR OWN SAFETY EQUIPMENT (MINIMUM SAFETY BOOTS AND HARD-HATS). ENTRANCE TO SITE COULD BE REFUSED FOR LACK OF SAFETY EQUIPMENT.
