The beginnings of our section of books on Irish architecture and the environment is now available here. These are available to buy through Amazon.co.uk.

Dublin Street Names by Paul Clerkin

Recently (May 2001), our section of Architectural Dublin was rewritten, expanded and developed into a book - Dublin Street Names published by Gill and Macmillan. This is now available to purchase through Amazon.co.uk.

The book provides individual records for each street:
Brunswick Street - Laid out in 1766 and formerly known as Channel Row after a channel which connected with the nearby Bradogue River. Now mainly apartment blocks developed on the site of three of Dublin’s most historic hospitals: the Brunswick, the Richmond and the Hardwicke. Each of the three hospitals specialised in different disciplines and were closed in the 1980s with the opening of the Beaumont Hospital near Glasnevin. The former Carmichael School of Medicine of 1864 is a fine building in a Lombardesque Revival style designed by a pupil of Benjamin Woodward.
